Couple may sue over carbon monoxide poisoning

news image A couple may take legal action after suffering carbon monoxide poisoning.

In November 2007, the elderly pair were at home in Edgware, Harrow when the woman began to feel lightheaded.

She subsequently lapsed into unconsciousness on the sofa.

Meanwhile, her husband also suffered from dizziness and nausea before partially collapsing.

They managed to alert a family member, who called an ambulance that took them to Barnet General Hospital - which is located in north London and is run by Barnet and Chase Farm Hospitals NHS Trust.

Recently, a man who conducted gas fitting work was found guilty of several legal breaches and was fined for his actions during a hearing at the City of London Magistrates' Court.

Health and Safety Executive inspector Charles Linfoot said: "The couple in this instance were lucky, but the outcome could so easily have been a tragic one."

He added that the work done to the pair's boiler was only 14 days before the poisoning incident.
