Compensation sought over football injury
Arsenal football club are to seek compensation from the Dutch Football Federation for the injury sustained by striker Robin Van Persie while playing for Holland in a friendly match with Italy last month.
The 26-year-old forward, who is considered to be one of the London team's key players, is expected to be sidelined for the rest of the season with the ankle injury, which manager Arsene Wenger has alleged did not receive adequate treatment until he returned to the UK.
Wenger was quoted by the Daily Star as saying: "We are definitely going for it.
"I expect financial compensation for the damage this can make to our championship campaign and the salary involved."
It is thought the payout could be worth a significant amount if the claim is successful, in a case that the Daily Express has predicted will be a "landmark" for the sport of the football.
