Compensation claim for injured worker?
Compensation may be sought by a worker who lost three fingers and a section of his thumb while cleaning equipment.
The un-named man was assisting in helping another employee for O'Neill Concrete Pumping to pour concrete into a garden when the incident took place.
While attempting to clean the hopper after the work was completed, the 37-year-old's right hand was trapped when the swinging tube of the pumping mechanism moved.
Three of the man's fingers and part of his thumb had to be amputated when medical experts evaluated the injury at the local hospital - and the male said he has been left traumatised as a result of the mishap.
According to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), the company had not made sure measures to stop dangerous parts of the hopper being accessed were in place, while supplier of the concrete pump Transcrete failed to ensure the design of the equipment was safe during times of maintenance.
Guy Dale, HSE inspector, said: "The employee will see his injuries every day and have to change the way he lives for the rest of his life."
