Broken leg may lead to compensation claim for worker
A man who sustained a broken leg while at work may seek compensation for his suffering.
The individual, who has not been identified by name, fell three metres from a roof on an Aberdeenshire farm building.
He had been fixing a sheet into place on a new potato store when the incident occurred.
The accident happened at Little Hilton Farm, near Turriff - which is located near the coast in the north-east of Scotland.
There had been no safety measures in place to protect the employee, such as guard rails which would have prevented falls from occurring, a subsequent investigation found.
In addition, the work had not been properly planned or controlled.
Commenting on the case, inspector at the Health and Safety Executive Liz Standen said: "I find it very frustrating that people continue to be needlessly injured and killed because of a lack of basic planning and simple precautions."
