Bride awarded compensation for soft tissue injuries
A woman has been awarded compensation after suffering soft tissue injuries on her wedding day.
Joanne Noone tied the knot with her husband at Setanta House Hotel and was having her reception when the ceiling of the room they were in collapsed.
Along with other guests, she became trapped under falling debris and was pinned to the floor.
She suffered pain in her back, legs and neck and had mild post-traumatic stress disorder - a psychological and physical condition that is experienced by up to 30 of people who go through traumatic events, according to the NHS.
The newlyweds also had to cancel their honeymoon to Italy.
In a new development, she has received £42,000 in damages.
Some of the other individuals involved in the accident have also filed personal injury claims.
A judge, who saw footage of the collapse, described it as a "pretty catastrophic event" and added it was a blessing no one was more seriously hurt.
