Back injury may lead to compensation
A firm may have to pay compensation to one of its workers who suffered a back injury in a workplace accident.
In November 2008, James Theaker was performing his role as a window cleaner when he fell four metres.
As a result of the impact, he suffered broken ribs and a back injury.
The 50-year-old had accessed the roof of Lincoln College - which provides courses for school leavers and adult learners - using a ladder.
He was leaning against the building when he tumbled to the ground.
As a result of the injuries he sustained, he had to spend a week in hospital and was forced to remain off work for months.
The college recently pleaded guilty to health and safety breaches as it had failed to conduct a proper risk assessment.
In addition, Mr Theaker's employer A Nicoll & Son was also prosecuted for its role in the accident.
