Accidents at work 'may be leading to compensation claims'
It has been noted that many firms in the Greater Manchester area are putting their staff at risk of accidents at work, meaning some individuals may be left seeking compensation.
According to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), inspectors served 148 enforcement notices in the area last year over problems identified with working at height.
The organisation - which serves to protect people from risks to their wellbeing that arise as a result of work activity - said some businesses may be trying to save money by allowing staff members to operate on roofs without scaffolding or other safety equipment.
This is putting employees at danger of suffering injuries and even death.
"It simply isn't worth companies trying to cut costs if lives are going to be put at risk," stated HSE principle inspector in the north-west Neil Jamieson.
He added that they will end up paying in time and money if the executive decides to take action against them.
