Accident at work 'could lead to compensation'
As a result of an accident at work, a man may be set to receive compensation.
In November 2006, Gary Hounsome was helping to unload marble tiles from a container at a premises in Poole, the Bournemouth Echo reports.
Two pallets of the products, which had been imported from Iran and were being stored prior to sale, got stuck .
When Mr Hounsome went around the back of the load to inspect, he was struck by a falling pallet.
As a result of the incident, he suffered multiple fractures.
According to Jeff Morley from environment and consumer protection services at the Borough of Poole - which is headquartered in the Civic Centre - the accident could have been avoided.
The official noted that the firm had not complied with health and safety legislation and this was the cause of the problem.
It was the Borough of Poole that launched an investigation into the issue.
