Accident abroad still causing pain for holidaymaker

news image A woman who suffered an accident abroad is still suffering as a result.

Jackie Silcox was on a Mediterranean cruise with her husband Gary when she slipped on deck and broke her leg, the Halifax Evening Courier reports.

She was forced to spend two weeks in a medical centre in Nice, France.

Now back in the UK, she has discovered that the damage is worse than was initially thought.

Doctors at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary - which first opened in 1965 and is around three miles from the city centre - discovered a second fracture that had been missed.

She has been told that the flight home and her wheelchair use could have made her injuries worse.

It is not yet known whether Ms Silcox will seek compensation.

She remarked: "I couldn't believe it. We were just devastated. It has just got worse and worse. I'm just trying to hold it together and keep smiling."
