Woman seeks compensation over illness abroad
A woman who experienced considerable suffering as a result of illness abroad is seeking compensation from a holiday firm.
Sharon Cummings travelled to Turkey for a break with her partner Kevin Campbell and daughter Amy.
While at the hotel, she experienced sickness and severe stomach cramps and, since her return to the UK, she has been diagnosed with a serious form of E Coli.
Bacteria that causes medical complaints such as this can sometimes lead to severe symptoms and the Food Standards Agency estimates that there are around 500 deaths caused by it each year in the UK.
Mr Campbell also claims to have experienced symptoms of a stomach upset as a result of the vacation.
The family is taking legal action against Thomas Cook.
Ms Cummings commented: "It's the worst holiday I have ever been on. It has really put me off wanting to go anywhere again, especially with the wee one," the Highland News reports.
