Woman injured by speeding motorist may get payout
A woman who was seriously injured when a speeding motorist ran into her and her horse may be in line for compensation, the Gloucester Citizen reports.
Lynn Graham was riding her horse on Minchinhampton Common - which is situated in the Cotswolds - in February of this year when the accident occurred.
As a result of the impact with the vehicle, she suffered a punctured lung, broken neck, fractured pelvis, three broken ribs and a dislocated shoulder. Her horse, meanwhile, died on the scene.
She is now said to be reliant on crutches for walking and cannot do her own hair or shower herself.
According to the 53-year-old's lawyer, the driver in question was travelling at around 50 to 60 mph and was talking on his mobile phone when he struck Ms Graham.
During a recent hearing, the motorist was fined £500 and temporarily banned from driving.
Meanwhile, a separate trial is to decide on the compensation Ms Graham should receive.
