Mother takes legal action for daughter permanently injured by infection
The mother of a girl who has been left permanently injured after suffering a severe infection has launched a legal battle for compensation.
Clarice Wright contracted chicken pox - an infectious condition which is most prevalent between March and May - at the age of 11 months, GazetteLive reports.
It has been claimed that medics failed to spot that the condition had spread and resulted in an abscess and septic arthritis, which subsequently resulted in her losing her hip joint.
Her mother, Demelza Wright, is suing Cambridge Medical Group on her behalf and is looking for a payout of more than £300,000.
Clarice is now said to suffer from discomfort and aching and finds it difficult to walk for more than a quarter of a mile.
In addition, her legal team argue that extensive surgery is likely to have an adverse effect on her education and could consequently impact on her choice of employment.
Meanwhile, Cambridge Medical Group stated that it did not want to comment on the case.
