Man may sue over hand amputation
A man who had his hand amputated in an accident while he was at work may seek compensation for his suffering.
In June last year, the employee - who has not been named - was performing his role at Conder Solutions when a rotating metal shaft on a metalworking lathe he was using caused him the damage.
As he was polishing the metal with a strip of emery cloth, his hand came into contact with the shaft and cutting tool.
Medical experts were able to re-attach the hand but, despite undergoing a series of operations, the staff member still has no feeling in it and is unable to use it.
The 55-year-old was in hospital for five weeks following the incident.
In a new development, Conder Solutions - which has been operating wastewater pumping, storage, separation and treatment solutions for over 40 years - was fined for breaching health and safety laws.

I was very pleased with Claims Direct and felt comfortable talking to the caller.
