Man injured after slip on rubbish pile wins £6k
A man who sustained injuries after slipping on a pile of rubbish has been awarded a payout of £6,000.
Peter Kelly, a train driver, was left unable to work for 11 weeks as a result of the incident, the York Press reports.
He stepped on to slippery food wrappers left by the entrance to a train, causing him to fall backwards and damage ligaments in his back.
"Somebody had discarded some orange peel and a greasy sandwich bag by the door. As I stepped on the train to drive back to Leeds I stood on the rubbish and slipped backwards and landed heavily on my back," stated Mr Kelly.
As a result of the accident, the 49-year-old's employer Northern Rail - a train operator which runs more than 2,500 services - paid him £6,000 in compensation after coming to a private settlement.

The people at Claims Direct were very friendly and understanding. I would recommend using them if you've had an accident.
