Man in line for payout after suffering injuries in fall
A man who suffered brain damage when he fell into a skip is in line for a significant payout.
According to reports on WalesOnline, Idris Smith was working at LC Window Fashions when the accident happened in August 2004.
The 57-year-old suffered changes to his personality as a result of the injuries he suffered.
For example, he displayed instances of verbal aggression, low tolerance, poor memory and reduced concentration.
The company's insurers admitted liability in the case but disputed the amount of compensation that Mr Smith should be paid for future earnings, the degree of care management required and accommodation.
During a recent court ruling, Justice Cranston said that the former truck driver and factory operator was entitled to the full amount of loss of earnings claimed to the age of 65, as well as the full costs of moving to a new house and the full costs of care.
It is thought that the amount may total more than £1 million.
According to figures produced by the Health and Safety Executive, around 299,000 reportable injuries occurred in UK workplaces in 2007-08.
