Ex-RAF pilot wins £14k after cycling accident
A former Royal Air Force (RAF) pilot has claimed compensation totalling £14,000 after suffering injuries while in a cycling accident, the Wilts and Gloucestershire Standard reports.
Ken MacLennan was travelling along a road in the south Cotswold town of Malmesbury when a dog ran under the wheel of his bicycle.
The 64-year-old, who is a member of national cycling organisation CTC, was thrown over his handlebars.
His injuries, which included a broken pelvis, meant he was forced to stay in hospital for a month and he remained on crutches for a further three months.
Mr MacLennan, who was training for a professional cycle race when the accident occurred, was also forced to take six months off work and is still unable to walk long distances.
Paul Kitson from Russell Jones & Walker, the legal firm which represented Mr MacLennan, said: "Dog owners need to understand that they are legally responsible if their pet causes an accident such as this."
