Couple secure payout after suffering sickness abroad
A couple who came down with sickness while on holiday have been awarded compensation.
Steven Cliff and girlfriend Rebecca Robson, who are aged 24 and 23 respectively, were staying in the Dominican Republic in the Caribbean when they contracted gastroenteritis, Garstang Today reports.
The pair, who were celebrating Ms Robson's birthday and the end of her university exams, were staying at the Bahia Principe hotel in San Juan.
So severe were the symptoms of the illness - which is an infection of the stomach and intestines - that Mr Cliff had to be taken to hospital by ambulance.
He said: "I went to see the doctor on site and he called an ambulance to take us to hospital.
"They said if I didn't improve, I wouldn't be able to go home but I discharged myself after two days because I just wanted to get out of there."
Recently, the couple were awarded a payout of £11,000 for their suffering.
No changes needed. The service Claims Direct provide is very good.
