Compensation may be sought over accident at work

news image A man who sustained injuries in an accident at work may seek compensation for his suffering.

In August 2008, the individual - who has not been named - fell from scaffolding planks and experienced a number of broken bones as a result.

He had been employed by The Cedars Steeplejack, which is based in Grantham, to remove bird debris and clean the bell chamber at the Church of St Peter in Lincolnshire when the incident occurred.

A subsequent investigation revealed the wooden boards supporting him were rotten and had given way when stepped on.

It has been ruled that the firm did not assess the risks from the work in the bell chamber and failed to select the right equipment to ensure it could be completed safely.

The Cedars Steeplejack pleaded guilty to breaching regulations and was issued a fine as a result, as well as being made to pay legal costs.
