Boy wins over £1m in compensation after road crash

news image A boy who was seriously injured in a road traffic accident has been awarded an interim payout of more than £1 million, it has emerged.

Benjamin Eeles was a passenger in a car which was travelling on the A12 in 1998 when a bus collided with it.

As a result of the impact, the youngster was left with language, concentration and motor skills problems, the Norfolk Eastern Daily Press reports.

Due to the injuries he suffered, his mother gave up her £100,000 a year job as a company finance director and the family now relies on the earnings of his father, who is a self-employed boat builder.

Through his mother, Benjamin - who is from the coastal town of Brightlingsea in Essex - is suing the owners of the coach Cobham Hire Services.

The company accepted liability in 2004 and has already paid out £450,000.

During a recent high court hearing, it was forced to pay a further sum, which the family hopes to use to purchase a property that can be adapted to Benjamin's needs.
