Honda Recalls 4.5 million Cars Due to Faulty Airbag

Honda has recalled another 4.5 million cars, bringing the total number that they have recalled to 24.5 million.

The recall is due to a faulty airbag that has the potential to inflict severe injuries and even kill. So far the airbags have been linked to eight deaths and more than 100 injuries worldwide.

The fault is causing airbags to explode, showering the interior of the car, and anyone inside it, with sharp metal fragments. The reason for this isn’t entirely clear but the manufacturer, Takata, thinks it is to do with the material inside the airbag inflator degrading under high heat and humidity.

The Honda models that may have the defective airbag include:

• 2001-2007 Accord
• 2001-2005 Civic
• 2002-2006 CR-V
• 2003-2011 Odyssey
• 2003-2008 Pilot
• 2006 Ridgeline
• 2002-2006 Acura MDX, TL, CL, and RI

If you own one of these cars you must get in touch with a Honda dealership straight away to have the airbag repaired.

Faulty products are often recalled as soon as someone alerts the manufacturer to a problem. Often it is after an injury occurs. Faulty and unsafe products cause hundreds of injuries every year in the UK. The Sale of Goods Act and Consumer Protection legislation states that we have the right to buy products that are safe to use and in working order. If this isn’t the case, we are entitled to a replacement, repair, or a part or full refund.

If you are injured by a defective or faulty product, and the injury was not your fault, you can claim compensation for pain and suffering, for lost wages and expenses; and for the costs of rehabilitation.

Our Personal Injury Lawyers in England, Scotland and Wales can provide you with immediate legal representation. We can also arrange for rehabilitation support to be provided anywhere in the UK.
