A couple from Ormskirk, Lancashire, are suing Aqualease over claims a fish tank they were sold caused serious damage from a leak in the aquarium.
Lisa and Paul Vian bought a 10ft fish tank from Aqualease in 2007 for £12,000 so they could keep their collection of tropical fish in a more suitable habitat, the Lancashire Evening Post reports.
Although the tank was maintained fortnightly by engineers, as per a contractual agreement, it started to leak water in March 2010.
According to the writ Mr and Ms Vian lodged in the London High Court around ten per cent of the water in the tank had escaped before an adhesive failure in the tank was identified and fixed.
It is claimed the tank had failed again within a few months and not enough was done by Aqualease to fix the problem, which caused extensive damage to the couple's home.
