A brawl that took place at a teenager's birthday party has ended in the payment of a compensation settlement.
Steven Gamble, 36, of Darlington, arranged a get-together for his step-daughter's 17th birthday party on Saturday April 6th earlier this year and the incident took place when the man asked guests to leave, reports the Northern Echo.
It is believed the man's temper then flared when he thought one party-goer made a derogatory comment about him, leading him to punch the man in the face, before pushing him over the bonnet of the car.
After pleading guilty to this charge at Darlington Magistrates' Court, Mr Gamble was told to do 200 hours of unpaid work, a 12-month community order and pay £200 personal injury compensation to the unnamed victim.
Presiding Judge Lower said, "This was a wholly unsavoury and unpleasant incident ... it is the kind of anti-social behaviour that the law-abiding public does not want to see."
