Fall from ladder in work accident caused injuries

Head and back injury may result in compensation 2700

A man suffered serious injuries in a work accident which left him with a broken eye socket, multiple hairline fractures to his skull and bruising to his head and back.

The accident happened while he was working for MB Air Systems in Peterlee in December 2010.

At the time of the accident, the 37-year-old man was working on a compressed air distribution system at premises owned by GT Precision Products, when a pipe hit him and knocked him off his ladder.

He fell from a height of approx. three metres to the floor below and suffered serious injuries.

The injured worker has since recovered from his injuries and returned to work but, after MB Air Systems and GT Precision admitted breaching health and safety regulations; he could now claim work accident compensation successfully.

Paul Miller of the Health & Safety Executive said, "This accident could have easily been prevented."
