A back injury suffered in a car crash accident has resulted in a beauty queen being paid £18,000 in compensation for her injuries.
Fiona Dickie claimed compensation on the basis that she now feels pain when wearing high heels after her car was hit by another car attempting to undertake her in Edinburgh in April 2009.
The 24-year-old was crowned Miss Edinburgh the year after the accident, but told the Scottish capital's Court of Session that her future participation in charity events has been restricted by the fact she struggles to wear high heels.
Mohammadreza Khandani, the driver of the car that collided with Ms Dickie's car, admitted liability for the car accident. Judge Gordon Reid QC ruled that she is entitled to £18,000 in compensation for the road traffic accident that was not her fault.
"She has displayed a commendable attitude to work, life in general and to her continuing back pain in particular," the judge said after awarding the compensation.
