A teenager who sustained whiplash injury during a road traffic accident may decide to pursue a compensation claim for her injuries.
According to the Mansfield Chad, the unnamed 15-year-old was a passenger in a car being driven by 20-year-old Luke Bullman in Rainworth in January this year when the motorist lost control of his vehicle.
In a case heard at Nottingham Crown Court, it was revealed that Mr Bullman collided with a bank of earth as he attempted to show off to the girl by dimming his lights and speeding.
Consequently, the teenager needed hospital treatment for whiplash injuries and extensive bruising after she collapsed while trying to walk home after the accident.
The Court heard that the impact of the crash caused the car's airbag to activate and despite first denying any wrongdoing, Mr Bullman has now admitted driving dangerously.
Judge Joan Butler QC said, "You behaved very foolishly, you were showing off to a young girl."
