Ex-potter awarded £3k for hearing damage

Ex potter awarded 3k for hearing damage 2628

Compensation of £3,000 has been awarded to an ex-potter who suffered permanent damage to his hearing due to excessive noise levels at his workplace.

According to the Staffordshire Sentinel, Adrian Ward has been granted this four-figure sum after taking legal action against the insurers of Longton-based firm the John Tams Group.

The 42-year-old - who worked for the company for 20 years - began his case five years ago on the grounds the decibel level he was forced to work in was dangerous and he was never offered any protective equipment to guard his ears.

This could act as a watershed in claims launched on the basis of hearing problems and may lead to hundreds of Mr Ward's former colleagues also pursuing damages.

"If people are talking but not facing me, I find it very difficult to hear and it can be dangerous at work," he told the news source.
