Asda fall leads to £3.7k damages

A compensation claim launched by a woman following an accident in a public place has resulted in her being awarded £3,775 in damages.

According to the Hull Daily Mail, Cindy Thompson sued Asda after she damaged her ankle during a fall at the global retailer's store in the Mount Pleasant area of Hull 18 months ago.

The 24-year-old tore a ligament in the joint when she tripped over some metal studs, which had been left on the floor after being used in work to repair the surface.

She required hospital treatment for her injuries but praised members of staff at Asda - which employs nearly 200,000 people - on the grounds they were "extremely helpful".

"I was walking around the store when I suddenly stumbled and fell forward onto my trolley. A few minutes later, I experienced sudden sharp pain in my ankle and foot," she told the news source.
