Residents call for road repairs 2602

Residents in one area in the south of England have urged the local authorities to improve the state of a local road to avoid more accidents occurring there.

According to the Bexhill-on-Sea Observer, people living in the East Sussex region of Pebsham want to see Claxton Road undergo repairs sooner rather than later as it currently features many hazards to drivers, cyclists and pedestrians, such as potholes.

However, councillor Charlie Clark has told the news source that when he got in touch with East Sussex Highways to inform them of these problems, the body insisted the surface was only being affected by "cosmetic" damage.

Nevertheless, councillor Clark said the road is in fact in an "appalling state".

"It is full of holes and cracks [but] they have no money for re-surfacing," he added.

This comes after a study published by Virgin Money earlier this week named Plymouth as the UK's most cycle-friendly urban area.
