Councillor wants study to prevent road traffic accidents

Another road traffic accident in an incident blackspot in the north of England has resulted in a councillor calling for a formal investigation into how safety there can be improved.

According to the Bradford Telegraph & Argus, councillor Michael Ellis - who also sits on the West Yorkshire Integrated Transport Authority - believes a report should be conducted regarding Halifax Road in Denholme.

This highway is a notorious destination for collisions between vehicles and earlier this week, a man had to be airlifted to hospital after being hit by a car while he crossed the road.

Councillor Ellis, who represents the constituency of Bigley Rural, commented: "I am asking for a study so that we can understand what traffic is using this road and why."

Three years ago, a pensioner died after being hit by a vehicle on the stretch, while in February this year two lorries collided on a sharp bend.
