Cleaner awarded £12k compensation

A compensation claim launched after an accident at work has resulted in a cleaner being awarded a damages sum worth £12,000.

According to the Mansfield Chad, Arkadiusz Chmiel took legal action against Timbet Door Solutions on the basis that he sustained a serious knee injury when he slipped at a factory owned by the company in Mansfield.

Mr Chmiel was hurt when he fell over as he attempted to move a wooden sawbuck weighing some 30kgs.

The professional indicated he had to twist out of the way in order to avoid the heavy equipment falling on top of him, which resulted in him requiring crutches and physiotherapy due to the damage inflicted on his knee.

"After the accident I lost a lot of wages because the pain in my knee was so bad I couldn't work," he told the news source.

Timbet subsequently admitted responsibility and awarded Mr Chmiel compensation in an out-of-court settlement.
