Teenager launches legal action for back injury 2536

A back injury sustained during an accident in a public place has resulted in a teenager pursuing a claim for compensation.

According to the St Helens Star, Leah Frederick was seriously injured when she fell a distance of around eight feet through the floor of a fast food outlet in St Helens town centre following a night out.

Ms Frederick had been out celebrating her 18th birthday with friends when the tiled floor of Carlos Pizza gave way, leading to her plunging to the concrete surface of the premises' basement.

The woman told the news source that initially, the medical professionals who attended the scene thought she had broken her back, but it later turned out she had just suffered bruising and swelling.

"I still can't move my back or my neck much," Ms Frederick said.

"The ambulance service said I was lucky not to break my neck ... they gave me gas and air because I was having breathing problems," she added.
