Pensioner seeking compensation for train station ordeal

Personal injury compensation is being sought by a pensioner left with post-traumatic stress disorder after an accident at a railway station.

According to the Enfield Independent, 82-year-old Joyce Bell slipped into the gap between a train and platform at Edmonton Green Station in January 2011 and is now taking legal action against Network Rail for her ordeal.

Ms Bell told the news source that she fell between the gap due to the wintry weather at the station and has since failed to amicably agree a settlement with the organisation - which employs 35,000 people - meaning she now has no option but to sue.

The elderly woman explained that as well as the sizeable gap between the platform edge and the train, there is also a big step up onto the vehicle making it "a real struggle" to board.

"I went right down in the hole up to my shoulders and got trapped, it was terrifying," she added.
