Man pledges to fight for food poisoning compensation

A couple have vowed to continue fighting their compensation claim on the grounds of food poisoning despite being turned down for damages by their holiday operator.

Chris Ward claims the severity of the illness he suffered in the Dominican Republic in 2010 caused him to delay his wedding to wife Kerry because he had to spend three days in hospital, Wigan Today reports.

Mr Ward had planned to marry at the Riu Bachata hotel in the Caribbean destination but insists 25 out of the 26 guests they had flown out there for the occasion were struck down with a gastric illness.

Some of the party have been compensated for their symptoms such as stomach cramps and diarrhoea, but Thomson have so far refused to grant damages to Mr Ward and 15 of his friends.

"What should have been the holiday of our dreams turned into an absolute nightmare," he told the news source.
