Gym member wins damages for broken finger

Personal injury compensation has been awarded to a woman who sustained a broken finger at her gym.

According to the North Devon Journal, Charlotte Brown hurt herself when she was thrown from her bike as she took part in a spin-cycle session at the Fitness Factory - an organisation that labels itself the best gym in the area - in Barnstaple in July 2011.

Ms Brown - a member at the health club - flew off the equipment she was using when one of its pedals broke without warning, leading to her suffering a fracture to her finger.

She subsequently took legal action against the organisation and has now been granted an undisclosed compensation settlement.

Her legal representative Mike Clarke told the news source: "Fortunately, Charlotte's injury was modest in the overall scheme of things, but it did interfere with her work and social life for some months before she fully recovered."
