Expert: Balance key to avoiding stress at work

Maintaining a good balance between their personal and professional lives can help professionals tackle the issue of stress at work.

That is according to Monica Seeley, managing director of Mesmo Consultancy, who believes it is "vital" for individuals to make sure they are not constantly working if they are to avoid feeling mentally uptight and anxious.

Ms Seeley explained that the majority of stress in the 21st century has its roots in the attitude of many employees that they must "work, work, work" and this trend has only been exacerbated by the presence of smartphones and tablet computers.

The expert indicated that such technology has "invaded our lives" and means many people cannot switch off as they are always tempted to check their messages and emails wherever they may be.

Yesterday (April 4th), a study by Maris Interiors established that Londoners are more stressed than their counterparts from elsewhere in the UK about their commute to and from work.
