Dental patient awarded 8k for negligence 2513

A four-figure compensation sum has been awarded to a woman who suffered severe dental pain due to medical negligence.

According to the Blackpool Gazette, Shelley Farrell has received £8,000 in an out-of-court damages settlement after she took legal action against Dr Tom Kerr after he conducted work on her mouth in 2009.

Ms Farrell visited the St Annes Dental Clinic - which opened in Lytham St Annes in 1996 - to have an abscess removed, but Dr Kerr failed to deal with this problem properly and also shattered a bone when attempting to remove one of her teeth.

The 49-year-old labelled the professional - who has still not admitted liability - a "butcher" and told the news source she had been in pain for three years since the incident.

"I had a look at my tooth and there was bone coming out of my gum. How can you do that to someone's mouth?" she noted.
