Builder may seek compensation for broken pelvis

Builder may seek compensation for broken pelvis 2518

A broken pelvis and a serious thigh laceration sustained during an accident at work could lead to a builder pursuing a personal injury compensation claim.

Frederick Stuart fractured his pelvis in two places and suffered a cut that went around halfway through his thigh muscle when he fell a distance of nearly 2.5 metres while working for building firm Sibbasbridge in Tiddington in July 2010.

The 62-year-old was injured as he stood on a damaged scaffolding plank to cut through a pole which then snapped, causing him to drop and land on a joist below.

Mr Stuart now has a permanent scar on his left thigh and also had to take six months off from his job with the firm, which was established in 1966.

After it emerged his employer had failed to install any safety equipment to prevent such an incident, he could now decide to take legal action.
