Broken bones to lead to damages settlement 2534

Multiple broken bones and a head injury sustained during an accident in a public place could lead to a woman pursuing a claim for compensation.

The unnamed female suffered several fractures, as well as cuts and swelling to her head, when she was hit by a piece of machinery as she waited for a bus on York road in London in September 2008.

At the time, Hertfordshire building company Concentra was working on a refurbishment project of an office block when its employees attempted to lift a piece of equipment to the fifth floor of the building.

However, this item struck the member of the public, which resulted in her having to remain in hospital for a period of eight days after the accident.

A subsequent investigation conducted by the Health and Safety Executive found that the incident was preventable because Concentra has failed to properly fit the crane it was using for this task.
