Broken bones may lead to damages

Broken bones suffered by a construction professional during an accident at work could result in him seeking compensation for his ordeal.

The unnamed 26-year-old man sustained fractures to his left ankle and right heel after he was forced to jump a distance of around six metres from scaffolding that was collapsing at a building project in Nottingham in January last year.

At the time of the incident, the professional was part of a team working on student accommodation in the city when the scaffolding they were standing on fell and crashed into the building opposite.

Meanwhile, a colleague working at a height of around ten metres was less seriously injured in the collapse as he managed to slide to the ground below.

Both men were helping take the equipment down, but analysis by the Health and Safety Executive found their employer Robert Leslie Butler had not erected the tower to sufficient safety standards.
