Woman to seek broken bones damages 2476

Broken bones suffered during an accident at work may result in a woman seeking personal injury compensation for her ordeal.

The unnamed member of staff of Wells Cathedral School fell a distance of around 2.5 metres through a loft hatch on the premises in July 2011 and, as a result, sustained a head injury and a fractured shoulder blade.

She had entered the loft area, which is located next to her office, to help a colleague folding down storage boxes and on turning to leave, she inadvertently stepped on the hatch and fell into the library below.

An investigation by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) found that the school - which was first established in the year 909 - had not conducted a proper risk assessment of the attic area.

Therefore, the professional may opt to pursue compensation and James Lucas of the HSE said the consequences of her fall "could have been far worse".
