New figures from the council have shown it has faced 63 compensation cases made after injuries were sustained at its schools over the course of the last four years.
A freedom of information request by the news source also revealed that damages of as much as £43,000 could be granted to a pupil who may be permanently blind after a classmate threw sand in his face.
In addition, the council has accepted it could have to award up to £18,000 to a child who sustained a facial injury when they tripped over an umbrella while playing.
