Man to seek damages for crushed hand 2490

An accident at work that caused a man to lose two fingers may lead to a personal injury compensation award.

The 23-year-old man's right hand was badly crushed in a power press while he was working for components manufacturer Ricor - a firm with more than 40 years' experience in the industry - in Studley in July 2011.

At the time of this accident, the professional was attempting to remove a completed part from the factory's production line when the machine's guards suddenly shut on his hand.

This then activated the equipment's power press, which crushed his index and middle digits so severely they had to be amputated.

During a case at Leamington Magistrates' Court, it was said that the man's life has changed significantly as a result of his injuries as he is now unable to carry out simple, everyday tasks.

As such, he could be eligible to pursue a claim for damages from his employer.
