Man awarded £11,000 after hit and run ordeal

Compensation has been awarded to a man in Chelmsford after he was knocked off his bike in a hit-and-run incident, it has been revealed.

Jack Dixon sustained severe injuries as he travelled to his Great Waltham home from the local railway station in September 2010, reports the Brentwood Weekly News.

Mr Dixon was left with a broken shoulder blade and dislocated shoulder when a car took a sharp left into Skerry Rise to avoid waiting for temporary traffic lights to change.

"It's the most painful thing I have ever experienced. I couldn't believe that the car just sped off - I could have been lying dead in the street," he said.

The victim, who was left in a sling for several weeks after the incident, received £11,000 for his injuries after seeking legal guidance from a Chelmsford law firm.

Mr Dixon was said to have deserved the damages payment after suffering severe physical and emotional trauma as a result of the driver's actions.
