According to the Daily Telegraph, the unnamed British woman underwent a facelift in Brussels in June 2005 but the "botched" nature of the operation resulted in her facial nerves, skin and lip all being damaged.
In addition, the 45-year-old also now suffers with numbness and permanent scarring - meaning she has a "lopsided" facial appearance - which corrective surgery by the Elyzea clinic failed to completely resolve.
Despite the fact she had the surgery in Belgium, the woman signed up for the treatment in the UK and as such began legal proceedings against the company at Exeter County Court some four years ago.
Her legal representative said he was "happy" the court had disagreed with Elyzea's assertion that the British system had no jurisdiction on this case as the operation happened in Belgium and welcomed the award of damages.
