People 'get stressed at work as they never switch off'

People get stressed at work as they never switch off 2434

The 24/7 nature of the modern-day professional environment represents a significant factor behind the growing issue of stress at work, an expert believes.

In recent years, an increasing number of people have started suffering with the effects of mental anxiety associated with their jobs as the recession has cranked up the level of pressure many workplaces are under.

And Neil Shah, director of The Stress Management Society, believes that one of the "primary reasons" for this trend is the fact a lot of people are being "overwhelmed by the rate and flow of information" from sources such as emails, smartphones and social media.

"It's also the fragmented nature of how we work in modern society - we don't just work on one thing and do that until we're finished," he noted.

This comes after research by Pomegreat established that job anxiety causes more than one-third of people to start the day in a bad mood.
