Finger injury to lead to damages claim 2423

An accident at work that resulted in a man's fingertip being cut off could lead to him pursuing a claim for personal injury compensation.

The unnamed professional was operating a circular saw while working for air conditioning manufacturer Eaton Williams Group in Stoke-on-Trent in February last year when he sustained this injury.

At the time of the incident, the 41-year-old was using the machine to trim metal parts from a screen when he accidentally came into contact with the rotating blade.

The top of his middle finger was sliced off and although he has since returned to his job, he will be permanently scarred.

An investigation by the Health and Safety Executive found that the equipment's guard was not properly in place, meaning the worker could decide to take legal action on the grounds of his employer's negligence.

Recently, Daniel Winters lost three fingers while operating a bubble wrap-making machine at Sangetsu in Milton Keynes.
