Family to seek more food poisoning damages

Further food poisoning compensation is to be sought by the family of a schoolgirl who fell ill while on holiday in Egypt in 2009.

According to Wales on Sunday, teenager Megan Fitzgerald suffered with a virulent gastric bug while on a family holiday in the Red Sea resort of Sharm El Sheikh and this illness still causes her severe stomach pain now.

Therefore, despite the fact that First Choice has already compensated the family with a sum of £3,000, mother Christine Fitzgerald - who also fell ill - has vowed to seek more damages after describing the original award as a "pittance".

The girl still has to undergo regular examinations from a paediatric gastroenterologist three years after originally being sick.

Ms Fitzgerald told the news source her daughter may never fully recover from the effects of the virus.

This comes after the Scotsman reported that Alexander Keir and Ian Rawlings are pursuing compensation claims from First Choice after they got food poisoning while on holiday in Taba.
