Bus company to face legal action 2427

Broken bones sustained during an accident at work could lead to a mechanical engineer pursuing a personal injury compensation claim.

The unnamed 58-year-old employee suffered several fractured ribs and a broken pelvis during an incident that took place at the depot of the Original London Sightseeing Tour - an organisation established in 1951 - in Rainham, Essex in October 2009.

At the time, the professional was reseating an airbag on one of the company's buses when the vehicle fell off the two-foot high wooden block stand it was placed on and crushed him.

Consequently, he was in hospital for two weeks after the incident and could not return to work for six months.

An investigation by the Health and Safety Executive established that his employer had not conducted proper risk assessments of the site and Jane Wolfenden of the body commented: "The use of wooden blocks in this way could easily have resulted in a fatality."
