Andrew Baxter suffered fracture and crush injuries when he fell from a ramp while unloading a delivery lorry at premises owned by Vesuvius UK - a manufacturing firm with plants around the world - in Chesterfield in February 2010.
The 50-year-old was using a forklift truck to take goods off the vehicle when the ramp he was driving on separated from the lorry bed and collapsed.
He subsequently needed to take nine months away from his job due to the severity of his injuries and has also been unable to return to his job on a full-time basis.
An investigation by the Health and Safety Executive found that a proper risk assessment had not been conducted by the firm and Fiona Coffey of the body commented this failure "resulted in Mr Baxter sustaining serious injuries".
