Irene Hislop suffered a fractured spine when she fell onto the concrete floor at a warehouse owned by Asda in the Greater Manchester area of Hulme in March 2007.
The 65-year-old had worked for the global retailer - which has around 200,000 employees worldwide - for seven years as a bakery assistant and was hurt when she slipped on a broken egg.
It later emerged that Asda then sent a private detective to monitor Ms Hislop to make sure she was genuinely injured - a fact the woman said made her fell "numb".
"After seven years of service, it hurt anyway that they thought I was lying, but to be so underhand ... just breaks my heart," she noted.
Ms Hislop has now retired after being unable to return to work after the accident.
